Out of the international airlines we have flown, Qatar Airways is our favorite.
The first thing we appreciate is the cabin comfort. The planes feel roomy, which matters when you are spending hours sitting in the same position.
We also love the food.
We already enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine, so the meals feel like something we can actually look forward to instead of something we are only eating because we are trapped on a plane and hungry.
Another major advantage is the location of the layover.
When we are traveling from the United States to Thailand or another destination in Asia, connecting through Doha feels like it is naturally along the way. We do not feel like we are flying far out of our direction just to make the connection.
That helps break the trip into manageable sections.
Instead of taking one extremely long flight followed by another awkward connection, the Doha layover gives us a chance to get off the plane, walk around, eat something, stretch, and prepare for the next part of the trip.
The combination of comfortable cabins, food we genuinely enjoy, good service, and a connection that works well for Asia makes Qatar our personal favorite.
That does not mean it will always be the cheapest option.
However, when the price and schedule make sense, Qatar is usually one of the first airlines we check.
