Our Story
We’re Damon and Selina, a married couple with more than 20 years of global travel experience. Over the years, we fell in love with the world’s food, culture, people, and perspective-shifting experiences — and we learned the hard way what doesn’t work so you don’t have to.
We retired in our 40s, sold what we owned, and moved overseas to build a more intentional life abroad. That journey taught us how to plan smartly, avoid common travel missteps, and create systems that work for everyday explorers and future expats alike.
Our Philosophy
Traveling and living abroad is not a checklist. It’s about meaningful experience and lifelong growth
At Doc and Bean, we believe travel should expand your world, not leave you confused or overwhelmed. Planning should bring clarity and calm, not stress or complexity. And the most valuable guidance comes from real experience, thoughtful decisions, and lessons learned through actually living and traveling abroad.

Why
Trust Us?
After decades of travel from Asia to the Caribbean, Middle East to Southeast Asia, we’ve honed what works and what doesn’t. Our guides and consults reflect lived experience, mistakes turned into lessons, and strategies that help you travel smarter and plan well.
We don’t just share where to go — we share how to go, how to save money, how to avoid travel pitfalls, and how to make the transition abroad successful.
Bangkok
Bangkok is often the first stop for people exploring life in Thailand. This guide is designed to help you get oriented, understand how different areas feel day to day, and plan a realistic first stay. It focuses on pacing, neighborhoods, and practical decisions rather than trying to see everything at once.

Phuket
Phuket can feel very different depending on where you stay and how you approach it. This guide helps you plan your time with clarity, avoid common planning mistakes, and experience the areas that align with your travel style. It’s meant to help you navigate options, not overwhelm you with them.
